The new hybrid model cars in 2009 have been a great advancement in technology based on the consumers preferences. Though the makers are unable to develop the one with all the facilities expected by the consumer, they have been successful in delivering hybrid cars with many of the desirable benefits. This may be modified and better hybrid models can be designed in the future. This technology is on the cutting edge and improving progressively.
Among the many hybrid models, Saturn Vue Green Line and Cadillac Escalade have been the hottest ones. Both the models are true hybrids providing double the fuel efficiency of the non-hybrid ones. In addition, Honda and Toyota still dominate the hybrid market though they offer models with minor improvements. All the other companies which claim their models as hybrids are not true. They are just “mild hybrids”. They do not offer the expected fuel efficiency.
Are you in search of a good hybrid model? The one model which has raised more publicity is GM’s Chevy Volt. Though this has not been yet launched, it has the highest expectations among the public. Chevy Volt will be launched sometime in 2010. The unique feature is that Volt can travel nearly 40 miles on battery charged from a standard household outlet. Volt uses gas to produce electric power only after the exhaustion of the battery of 40 miles charge for the motor. Hence Volt will save money by just using electric current.
This will provide competition to other players like Honda and Toyota. It is very unlikely that other players can come up with an equivalent model of Chevy Volt. Toyota’s plug-in Prius is able to give a ten miles charge implying that the consumers need to employ gas for most of their driving. Honda concentrates on a different technology (fuel cell vehicles). But it needs time to come up in competition with the plug-in hybrids.
Besides being able to save gas by possessing a hybrid car model, auto insurance companies also have offers on such models which enable the consumers to save money
on their insurance package. The offers are most probably in the form of discounts. Most of the companies offer such discounts for hybrid cars mainly due to the reason that preliminary research has indicated hybrid owners to fall into the preferred insured category. It is also found that hybrid drivers are cautious drivers and likely to have less claims. No wonder insurance companies offer discounts to good driver due to the low risk involved. Discounts ranging between 5% and 10% are currently offered.
The companies offering such discounts on hybrid models can easily be traced out by doing a comparison on the online auto insurance websites. Many of these websites have designed a comparison search engine especially with the consumer’s preferences as the motive. Hence you can compare the quotes from various insurance companies by just filling up a single simple form in no time. Almost all the well known companies are listed in these websites and hence the consumer need not worry about the worthiness of the auto insurance company.
